This week's highlighted shirt is our new design called The Forecast for Birding. We had a version of this design available for sale a few years ago but it wasn't added to Magnificent Frigatebird initially. Now we've updated the design and placed it on a wide variety of apparel and gift items. We show the design here on a one of our apparel offerings, a unisex hoodie.
This original design for birders shows three less-than-ideal weather forecast icons, light rain, heavy rain & snow. The text reads The forecast is always perfect for birding. No matter the weather, let's get out there and bird! This is a cute gift idea for birders, especially if they are known as being a bit more die-hard than others.
This week's highlighted shirt is our Pop Art Spoonbill Pattern, shown on a light blue women's t-shirt.
This is a cute, unique repeating Spoonbill silhouette pattern. When we lived in Holland, we used to like looking for Common Spoonbill who would summer there. This design was based on our white Spoonbill, but the silhouette is similar to North America's familiar Roseate Spoonbill. This Spoonbill T-Shirt is great for birders and budding birdwatchers. Who doesn't love spoonbills, the graceful wading bird with the utensil-shaped beak?
This week's highlighted shirt is our FBI Spoof Fanatic Birding Individual, shown here on a black fitted t-shirt.
Only a select few can join the FBI. The most serious birders are Fanatic Birding Individuals. This funny, unique FBI spoof design makes a great gift for bird lovers and birdwatchers of all levels.
This is the first of a planned weekly series: T-Shirt Tuesday, where I'll highlight some of the original t-shirt designs from the Magnificent Frigatebird shop for birders.
This twist on a popular iPod ad series features the silhouette of a little songbird with a white leg ring, along with the text iBand. This fun design makes a great gift for any bird ringer or bird bander.
A Rant of Ravens by Christine Goff. First published 2000. As reviewed and pictured: softcover, 207 pages.
The last time I tried reading a birder-themed mystery novel, I was sorely disappointed. With that in mind, I honestly didn't expect too much out of Christine Goff's A Rant of Ravens, the first in a series of Birdwatcher's Mystery novels. So I was more than pleasantly surprised to find this debut novel well-written, fast-paced, entertaining, and engaging.
A Rant of Ravens follows heroine Rachel Stanhope, a big-city woman going through a personal and professional crisis, as she takes a break from her life and travels to see her eccentric aunt in the mountains of Colorado. At her aunt's ranch, dubbed Bird Haven, Rachel encounters various people whose characters are briefly but effectively introduced to the reader. A murder mystery develops after one of Rachel's more recent acquaintances is found dead.
This is a quick-read murder-mystery with a satisfying amount of character development told at an exciting pace.
I give A Rant of Ravens 3 Goldfinches out of 5.
