January 2011 Giveaway: Flyaway

Posted on January 5th, 2011 in Contest, Giveaway

Yesterday I posted a 5/5 review of Suzie Gilbert’s book about her adventures in bird rehabilitation, Flyaway: How a Wild Bird Rehabber Sought Adventure and Found Her Wings. In the first of what I plan to be monthly giveways or contests, I’m giving away my copy of Flyaway. I read the book in about three days and while my copy is now technically used, I purchased it new and it is in like-new condition. Perfect for a giveaway, I think!

Since this is my first giveaway, I’m keeping it simple. The contest is open to everyone (global). If you’d like to enter a drawing to win Flyaway, just leave a comment on this post before 11:59pm EST on Thursday, January 13th. A random entry will be chosen sometime on Friday, January 14th.

Thank you for the opportunity to win a book about Suzie Gilbert efforts at rehabbing wildlife. Personally, I own her other book, Hawk Hill, and this would be a welcome addition to my collection. But, whomever receives your gift, may they be given by reading this book to appreciate more all the wildlife on this planet and the folks like Suzie Gilbert who help those wild animals that are injured.
Best wishes.

Hi Amy, I’m not looking for a copy of the book, since I wrote it … but thanks for your lovely review and hope the winner enjoys it, too. I’m better at fixing birds than ID’ing them – I bow to all you bona fide birders for that. I’ve always ended up emailing photos of mysterious little warblers to my bird-a-thoner friends and begging for help. Happy Birding to all ….

This sounds like a wonderful book, and I appreciate the chance to win it. I hadn’t heard of it before and if I don’t win it, I will be obtaining it to read anyway. Thanks, again for the opportunity!

Great way to get the book out there, Amy. I did a review of a sweet book last fall, A Spicing Of Birds by Jo Schuman. Wish I had thought of the give away as a way to get her work out there.

Very clever and generous idea. It sounds like a great book and I’d love to read it. And I’ll promise to pass it on when I’m done if I win, to keep the cycle of sharing going. I’ll do it via my husband’s blog.
