We’ve recently moved and have been trying to attract birds to the backyard at our new place, so this week’s highlighted birding t-shirt has a backyard birding theme. Squirrels, Get Off My Lawn! was made for a design competition a few weeks ago where the theme was Kids, Get Off My Lawn. Some backyard birders get frustrated when gangs of squirrels snatch the seed meant for birds. Ever wonder what the birds think? The two birds on this t-shirt are yelling: You kids! Get off my lawn! But the little gang of two squirrels munching away on the ground don’t seem to mind at all.

This week’s highlighted t-shirt for birders is called Diagnosis: Bird-Brained. The design is made up of an X-Ray of a brain filled with little bird silhouettes. According to the dictionary, a birdbrain is a stupid person. But for birders, being bird-brained isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This funny, birdy design makes a cute gift idea for bird-obsessed birdwatchers and bird lovers, or anyone who always has birds on the mind! The design is available on a variety of apparel and gift items. Here, it’s shown on one of our newest offerings, a Kelly Green dark t-shirt.
We’ve just added some new designs based on the phrase for the birds, which means worthless or trivial. The term is used primarily by Americans and originated at the end of WWII. Of course, if you love birds or are a birdwatcher, being for the birds doesn’t have the same negative connotation.
You can find our “for the birds” t-shirts and other great birder gift items in the general birding section of our shop.
These designs are also available on other items for birdwatchers, including bumper stickers and license plate frames.
This week’s highlighted birding t-shirt is actually a twitching t-shirt. You’ve heard of witchcraft, but have you heard of Twitchcraft? Twitching is a method of birding by which birdwatchers follow tips and sighting reports in order to see rare birds. Sometimes twitching is also used to generically describe British birders. This fun twitching-themed t-shirt design reads Practiced in the art of Twitchcraft.
