T-Shirt Tuesday: Dirty Bird Shirt

Posted on December 30th, 2008 in T-Shirt Tuesday

We’ve got a lucking birding shirt for sale in our shop. When I showed it to my dad, he said we should make an unlucky birding shirt with some bird poop on it. We haven’t made that one yet, but this funny shirt comes close.

Bird Tile Murals (2): Feeding the Peacocks

Posted on December 27th, 2008 in Products

The Tile Mural Shop has a great, unique collection of artwork made out of tiles. The bird tile murals are especially beautiful and are a great way for bird-lovers to decorate their office, kitchen, workshop or other room.

The bird murals are made up of 12 to 24 ceramic tiles. The tiles measure 4.25″ so the murals are big enough to fill a large space. There are ten different bird murals to choose from. In a series of blog posts I will share some of my favorites with you. This is the second post. Click here for the first.

I really like this image of a young woman feeding peacocks. We saw a lot of wild peacocks during our trip to India a few years ago. We were even lucky enough to see one male on full display! These birds sure are beautiful, but boy are they noisy!

This beautiful horizontal mural is made up of 24 tiles and measures 34″ x 12.75″ when completed.

For more unique tile murals, check out the The Tile Mural Shop.

T-Shirt Tuesday: An Involuntary Manslaughter of Blue Jays

Some common collective nouns for groups of birds are: Flock of Birds; Gaggle of Geese; Aerie of Eagles; Murder of Crows; Involuntary Manslaughter of Blue Jays.

Wait, what was that last one?!? This is a hilarious t-shirt for any bird lover.

Bird Tile Murals (1): Common Crane

The Tile Mural Shop has a great, unique collection of artwork made out of tiles. The bird tile murals are especially beautiful and are a great way for bird-lovers to decorate their office, kitchen, workshop or other room.

The bird murals are made up of 12 to 24 ceramic tiles. The tiles measure 4.25″ so the murals are big enough to fill a large space. There are ten different bird murals to choose from. In a series of blog posts I will share some of my favorites with you. This is the first post.

One of my favorite murals is this image of a Common Crane. We were lucky to see these beautiful large birds a few times when we lived in Europe. They were a relatively rare sighting in the Netherlands and often when they were spotted, the exact whereabouts was under embargo on the local alert pages to protect the breeding birds. We only saw them once in Holland, from the train no less! We saw a few of them during one of our birding excursions in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.

I love the big fluffy tail plumes on Common Cranes. The tail plumes are shown beautifully in this tile mural. The mural is made of 12 tiles and measures 12.75″ x 17″.

T-Shirt Tuesday: The Forecast for Birding

Posted on December 16th, 2008 in T-Shirt Tuesday

This week’s highlighted shirt is our new design called The Forecast for Birding. We had a version of this design available for sale a few years ago but it wasn’t added to Magnificent Frigatebird initially. Now we’ve updated the design and placed it on a wide variety of apparel and gift items. We show the design here on a one of our newest apparel offerings, the zip hoodie.

The Forecast for Birding Zip Hoodie

This original design for birders shows three less-than-ideal weather forecast icons, light rain, heavy rain & snow. The text reads The forecast is always perfect for birding. No matter the weather, let’s get out there and bird! This is a cute gift idea for birders, especially if they are known as being a bit more die-hard than others.

T-Shirt Tuesday: Old Digiscopers Never Die

Posted on December 9th, 2008 in T-Shirt Tuesday

This week’s highlighted shirt is our new design called Old Digiscopers Never Die. We show the design here on a one of our newest apparel offerings, the women’s zip hoodie.

Old Digiscopers Never Die Women's Zip Hoodie

This funny design for digiscopers reads Old digiscopers never die, they just lose their focus. Digiscopers take photos (of birds) using their spotting scope and a digital camera. Digiscoping is an increasingly popular pastime among birders. This is a cute, funny gift idea for digiscopers of any level!

This is our first digiscoping-themed design. What do you think? What other digiscoping novelties would you like to see?
